Meet the Doctors and Staff of Heartland Cardiovascular Center

Dr. Abdul Sankari

Dr. Abdul SankariAbdul Sankari, MD, FACC is Board Certified in Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, Critical Care Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Internal Medicine and is Certified by the Federation of State Medical Boards of the United States of American (FLEX) and the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). He earned his Medical Degree from the University of Aleppo, Syria. He earned the First Rank in the Graduation Exam at the University of Aleppo. Dr. Sankari completed a surgical internship and his Medical Residency at the University of Illinois, Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, where he was the Chief Medical Resident. Dr. Sankari completed a Fellowship in Cardiology at the University of IL at Chicago and the Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center. He completed a Critical Care Fellowship at Emory University.

Dr. Sankari is the recipient of the Maimonides Award for Humanism and the Teacher of the Year Award from the Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Chest Physicians. He is an Associate Member of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Sankari serves as the Director of the Intensive and Coronary Care Units of St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center. He is President of the Heartland Education and Research Foundation. Dr. Sankari’s research is published in numerous peer-reviewed journals.
